Middle School / High School Class Descriptions

 

Class: Latin I
Description:     Latin I will enhance English vocabulary and grammar, learning 1st and 2nd conjugation verbs in the present, future and imperfect tense.
We will learn 1st and 2nd declension nouns and the use of subject, direct object, predicate nominative, possessive forms, indirect object, vocative
case, prepositional phrases and adjectives in Latin and English sentences. This class requires some light homework and memorization during the week.
 

Class: Latin II
Description:     Latin II will continue to build on the skills learned in Latin I (see description), continuing an emphasis on grammar, vocabulary and increasing
skills in Latin translation. This class requires some homework and memorization during the week.
 

Class: Latin III
Description:     Latin III will continue to build on the skills learned in Latin I-II (see descriptions), continuing an emphasis on grammar, vocabulary and increasing
skills in Latin translation. This class requires some homework and memorization during the week.


Class: Algebra I
Description:    All 120 lessons in the Saxon Algebra 1 text will be covered. Topics will include: signed numbers, solving equations, working with polynomials,
factoring, linear equations, graphing, rational expressions and equations, powers and roots, and quadratic equations.
 

Class: Discovering Great American Artists
Description:    This is a hands-on art appreciation class. There will be an emphasis on viewing appropriate works of featured artists as well as on doing
projects in the style of great American artists. Limited art instruction and some vocabulary will be included on provided artists' biography sheets.
 

Class: Adventures in Art
Description:    We will explore a wide variety of art media, including enameling, watercolor, printmaking, clay, book arts, batik, tie dying, and more. Basic
design principles will be introduced to prepare students who may take art classes at the college level.
 

Class: Theater Production
Description:    Confidence, leadership, teamwork and the ability to present yourself in front of a group...these are some of the benefits of working together
in Theater production! This class is designed to give students an opportunity to experience all elements of theater production, and is open to anyone interested
in performing, regardless of experience.
